A Principal Safety Engineer is sought for a contract job to support a range of Fire & Explosion Safety Engineering tasks.
Key Tasks:
- Taking a lead role across Fire & Explosion Safety Engineering (DSEAR) risk assessments and compliance activities for new and existing submarine manufacturing facilities.
- Co-ordinating the work programs of team members to meet strategic explosion safety objectives
- Leading the on-going development of the fire safety team across a number of projects for buildings and submarine platforms.
- Mentoring and developing engineers within the team
- Monitoring, recording and reporting against key performance indicators for Explosion Safety through a variety of key stakeholder groups
- Developing, producing and maintaining Explosion Safety process documentation and management strategies
- Producing and reviewing explosion strategies and risk assessments
- Reviewing and supporting commissioning strategies for explosion safety systems
- Producing proposals for packages of work
- Reviewing of engineering documentation (relevant to Explosion Safety)
- Providing support to regulatory inspections
- Chairing explosion safety workshops and working groups.
Essential Skills:
- Working in an explosion safety engineering environment and applying various methods of hazard analysis
- DSEAR risk assessment production including hazard identification and analysis (preferably from a high hazard industry)
- A thorough understanding of Hazardous Area Classification (HAC).
- Proven track record in implementing business processes to achieve strategic objectives.
- Passion for safety and open to developing new skills and undertaking further training in explosion risk management.
